Alan Cumming's Next Big Role: Mr. Ring-a-Ding in ‘Doctor Who’

Alan Cumming is returning the world of Doctor Who. That's the good news.

The bad news: you won't get to see him. Sorry. He'll be voicing an animated character named Mr. Ring-a-Ding.

Mr. Ring-a-Ding is a “happy, funny, singalong cartoon” from Sunny Town. But the character soon realizes there's a "real" world outside his own. Things then take a terrifying turn!

Showrunner Russell T Davies said Cumming’s performance is “wilder and madder than ever,” adding that “only Alan Cumming could give a runaway cartoon so much wit, malice, danger, and fun.”

Cumming has been on Doctor Who before. In 2018, he portrayed King James I in 'The Witchfinders' episode, where he gave us all some serious regal camp.

Cumming’s animated debut as Mr. Ring-a-Ding is part of the second episode of Doctor Who’s upcoming season, airing April 19 on BBC1 in the UK, and on Disney+ everywhere else.
