Sarah Michelle Gellar coming back for "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" reboot
It's been 20 years since we last stepped foot in Sunnydale, but it looks like that's about to change!
Hulu is trying to secure a pilot order that will see the series brought back from the dead. And don't worry, this isn't a total reboot. It's being described as "the next chapter in the Buffyverse," And though Sarah Michelle Gellar is unlikely to be the lead, she will be reprising the role of Buffy Summers.
This is great news for fans. For years, Gellar has expressed no interest in a reboot. But after appearing in Dexter: Original Sin, she saw realized reboots could be done well.
"It’s funny, I always used to say no, because it's in its bubble and it's so perfect," Gellar told Deadline. "But watching Sex and the City and seeing Dexter, [I'm] realizing there are ways to do it. It definitely does get your mind thinking, 'Well, maybe!'"
As to when, we probably won't know for a few months. But, fangs crossed, it'll be this year.
